My beautiful niece Gracie was recently diagnosed with Neuroblastoma (cancer). It is still early in the diagnosis and we are awaiting results to know more about the fight that Gracie will face. I've created this blog as an outlet for friends and family to stay informed about her journey and a way for friends and family to make anonymous contributions towards her care and the mounting expenses her family will face. Gracie is a fighter and the bravest 3 year old I know. Hundreds of people love you Gracie and are praying for you. "Be strong and of good courage for the Lord thy God is with thee" Joshua 1:9

Round 5

Gracie had her 5th round of chemo from June 14-17th. She did pretty good with it. Here is Chloe (big sister) reading to Gracie at the hospital. She loves to hear stories because she doesnt feel ike playing very often. She also has quite the selection of movies now.
The best thing about summertime is snowcones!!!

The football players from OSU came around to all the kids and visited and gave them toys and stickers. she liked these pompoms but she wasnt interested in a bunch of big football players coming in her room. :)

We went to the movie after she was released from the hospital before her counts were low. We hit the noon movie so there werent many people anyway, We saw toy story 3 in 3-D and she loved it and has been asking to go again! I told her we will go next week when her counts are back up. We also went to the zoo but it was very hot and we didnt stay too long. We rode the train and the carousel.

the next few days her counts started dropping and she started not keeping anything down. I called the doc and they had me switch her to pedialyte and she did well with that, every time I'd think she was doing good, I'd try a little pediasure again and up it would come. I kept her on only pedialyte for a few days to at least keep her hydrated and it seemed to work well but she didnt get any nutrition those days. She just started tolerating the milk again a couple days ago. I have it set at 1 1/2 oz. per hour continuously. She has been sleeping a ton trying to reserve her energy. Her counts should be on their way back up at this point, we go to clinic to check tomorrow. I hope she gets her energy back and is able to enjoy the next two weeks. Surgery has been scheduled for July 13th down in Ft. Worth, TX.

  2. I continue to be amazed and humbled watching what a little girl can go through. I pray the counts are up Monday so Gracie can get in some good times before that surgery.
